Mahaffey Camp offers two Horse Camps during the summer, based on level of experience. Beginner Horse Camp (held in August; ages 10-15) does not require previous equine experience. Campers learn practical horsemanship skills, including basic riding, taking care of a horse, cleaning stalls, and safety lessons. Essentials of Successful Horsemanship (held in June or July; ages 12-17) is designed for riders who have attended Horse Camp in the past or have taken riding lessons. This camp features a more advanced level of lessons and trail rides, as well as instruction based on Christian Camp Horsemanship International Standards (campers who complete the requirements receive certificates).
Both of these camps only accept a limited number of campers, so early registration is advised. Visit the Youth Camps page for the brochure and more information!
